Gina completed the London Marathon for the charity, Barnardo’s!

Gina Thompson, New Homes Sales Advisor at our popular Copper Hills new homes development in Hayle, Cornwall, took part in the London Marathon on Sunday 21^st April. Gina ran the Marathon for the charity, Barnardo’s, a British charity founded by Thomas John Barnardo in 1866, to care for vulnerable children and raised a whopping £2,622!

Gina commented “The London Marathon was the biggest challenge I have ever taken on but it was THE BEST day of my life. The first 19 miles were fine and I was thinking I am actually doing this but between mile 19 and 21 it became increasingly difficult to keep going. By mile 21 I was having to walk because I had run out of fuel (Jelly Babies). The crowds were phenomenal and people calling out my name that kept me going! At mile 23 a lovely man gave me a Mars Bar which got me to the finish line in the Mall. It was a truly humbling experience and I met so many amazing people along the way. I met Rhino, a blind lady, several people with one leg, a lady who had had a double mastectomy who ran topless and a teenager with Down Syndrome who made a new world record before being overtaken by a telephone box. 67 million pounds was raised for charities because of the London Marathon and I am very proud to have been a part of that and am very grateful to all my colleagues, customers, friends who have donated to my chosen charity Barnardo’s. It has taken me a week to recover mentally and physically but would I do it all again? Absolutely.”
