Alzheimer’s Research UK is our chosen charity for 2015

- Fri 27 Feb 2015

It is with great pleasure that we have chosen Alzheimer’s Research UK as our Charity of the Year 2015. The UK’s leading dementia research charity received a number of votes from our 33 offices which have pledged to raise a minimum of £300 each, taking the target to just under £10,000. Over the next 12 months, our staff will raise funds for pioneering dementia research through a series of fundraising ideas, with suggestions ranging from quiz nights and cake sales, to sponsored runs and even an adrenalin-fuelled sky dive.

Francis Marshall, Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to have chosen Alzheimer’s Research UK as our charity of the year. Many of the team at Bradleys have personal experience of dementia and the effect on the individual and their loved ones is heart-breaking.

“We have named the partnership ‘33 ways to raise £300’ and there is no shortage of fundraising ideas. Every £20 raised will pay for another hour of vital research. We hope our support of the charity will not only boost much needed funds but also help raise awareness and understanding of the condition.”

Jade Rolph, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “We are delighted that Bradleys Estate Agents has chosen to support Alzheimer’s Research UK as its charity partner. The money staff raise will support vital research to bring improved diagnosis, preventions and much-needed treatments for dementia ever closer.

“There are over 830,000 people living with dementia across the UK, including over 78,000 in the South West. Dementia poses one of the greatest threats to public health now and in the future but funding for research still lags far behind other serious diseases. Thanks to existing support, we are investing £50,000 in the Alzheimer’s Research UK South West Research Network, which unites researchers from the universities of Exeter and Plymouth. We rely on public donations to fund our work and support from businesses like Bradleys Estate Agents plays a key part in helping us progress our world-class research.”
