Amy Chapman, a Negotiator from our Teignmouth branch has secured herself a place to run the London Marathon this year in April, raising money for the charity; Sense. This national charity supports people who are deafblind and those with complex disabilities, to be understood, connected, and valued.

Amy is pledging to run the marathon distance of 26.2 miles this year in aid of her nephew, Beau who is deafblind and every day is an inspiration. When asked about how her training is going , Amy commented “I am fully into my training schedule now, tackling the weather conditions and the hills of Devon! This challenge will be a huge achievement personally and certainly ticking something off my bucket list but my main focus is running for Beau and that is what has kept me going up to now.”

Amy added “The training is all worthwhile when I remember that I am running for Sense, which is a charity that helps people of all ages with complex disabilities. I would like to raise awareness for the charity to get as much funding as possible to help anyone like Beau and others in a similar position. From your donations; £135 could pay for a family to make memories on a Sense Family Day, £500 could pay for a child who is deafblind to have a visit from a Sense specialist teacher, including an assessment and expert advice and £725 could provide our core package of support for a family for a whole year!”

We wish Amy all the best in the tough training she has coming up in the next few months, as well as the massive achievement of completing the marathon in April.
