Bradleys Colleagues Take on the World Pilot Gig Championships

- Wed 06 May 2026

Over the May Day bank holiday weekend, two members of the Bradleys Estate Agents team swapped property listings for oars, as Amy Jane and Tean Hosking travelled to the Isles of Scilly to compete in the renowned World Pilot Gig Championships.

Representing Cadgwith Gig Club, both took part in one of the largest rowing events of its kind, with around 130 crews competing across the weekend. The championships bring together teams from across the UK and beyond, creating a highly competitive and energetic atmosphere on the water.

Amy rowed in Cadgwith’s ladies A crew, securing an impressive 24th place finish in a very strong field. Meanwhile, Tean competed in Cadgwith’s ladies B crew, finishing a commendable 79th place.

The event is known not only for its scale but also for its challenging conditions. Races take place in open water around the islands, where crews must contend with changing tides, wind, and swell—making every race both physically and mentally demanding.

Adding to the excitement, Amy also had a close family connection to the top of the podium. Her brother, Billy, rowing with Falmouth’s A men’s crew, took home gold and were crowned World Champions—a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the family.

Despite the competition, the weekend is also a celebration of teamwork and community, with crews supporting each other throughout and a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the water.

A huge well done to Amy and Tean for their achievements and for representing both Cadgwith Gig Club and Bradleys Estate Agents so brilliantly. Taking part in such a prestigious event is no small feat, and their hard work and dedication truly paid off.

We’re proud to have such committed and driven individuals as part of the Bradleys team—both in the office and out on the water!
