Buyers and sellers marching to the market!

- Tue 15 Feb 2022

It has now been confirmed by property portal Rightmove that having analysed the last 5 years’ worth of data (prior to 2020), that March is the busiest month for both buyer demand and sellers putting their homes up for sale.

With more buyers searching for a home in March than any other month of the year, followed by April and then May, it appears the spring market that many see as the most popular time to move home, is indeed the case. Whilst this may seem bad news if you are thinking of buying as there are more people to compete with, there is some good news; March is also the peak month for sellers to market their home, which enables more choice for all buyers!

Group Sales Director, Darren Ellis, commented “Our activity here at Bradleys shows a very similar pattern as Rightmove. There a few further thoughts around these findings; if a seller is keen to attract the most interest and therefore the best price, it would make sense for sellers to consider marketing their home sooner as there is likely to be less sellers competing with them.”

It has been widely publicised that the housing market has experienced more house sales following the pandemic and whilst there is shortage of homes for sale, people looking to sell and buy will need to put themselves in the best position possible to ensure they don’t miss out on their next dream home.

Darren continued “Demand for all types of property has never been higher than over the last 6 months, which is great news for sellers, although we always speak with sellers and advise they focus on marketing their home when it suits their personal situation rather than trying to simply suit the housing market. The one thing we cannot guarantee is what the housing market will like be in 2 or 3 months’ time let alone 6 or 9 months! Each sellers scenario is different so contact your local Bradleys Team and discuss your situation, let us help you plan your move to make it as easy and stress free as possible, whether that be this month or later this year.”
