Once again, the Lords Taveners hosted their Devon and Exeter Christmas Lunch at Sandy Park to raise money in order to positively impact the lives of young children fighting against inequality. The charity helps children from disadvantaged backgrounds to come together through the sport of cricket, whilst empowering them knowledge and skills to overcome the challenges they face.
The event was once again a sell out with all 50 tables being snapped up early for the 3 course lunch compered by David ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald and this year featuring former English fast bowler, Darren Gough. The lunch featured the ever popular fund raising games including true/false game largely based on historical facts about Exeter and christmas, as well as the charity auction.
Darren Gough was interviewed by Fitz, whereby he went on to tell the audience about some of his international cricket experiences, including a ball by ball insight into his historic hat-trick in the Ashes, much of which was accidental! The England fast bowler also covered off his winning various celeb shows including Strictly Come Dancing.
The event was a great success all round with the final total raised in excess of £60,000. Bradleys Estate Agents Branch Manager in Exeter, Robin Middleton commented “This was another hugely successful event for this important charity and makes me proud to see the people of Exeter and across Devon showing such superb financial support which will help change the lives of so many young people.”
