Devon & Cornwall in the top 3 most searched for locations!

The 10 most searched for locations on property website, Rightmove during 2023 has been revealed in recent property news. Cornwall takes a very impressive second spot, with Devon immediately behind in third place, whilst London remained in top spot.

Statistics show cheaper areas are higher on the list with affordability being stretched. Searches for homes for sale in the capital increased by 1% from 2022 to 2023, however the number of buyers looking for homes in place being Cornwall decreased 18% over the same period.

This suggests we may look to see home-buyers seeking the more affordable cities as a result of what’s happened in the property market towards the end of 2022 and throughout 2023. Due to mortgage rates being at a historically high-level since the middle of 2023 they are slowly creeping their way back down.

Tim Bannister, Rightmove’s property expert, notices the quickest local markets are typically Scotland. Proving the average time to find a buyer is 66 days in Great Britain, however just 37 days in Scotland, although close behind with an average of 25 days is Redfield in Bristol.

2023 proved that there was lower than expected falls in asking prices, however good levels of home-buyers for the ‘right-priced’ properties. Statistics show that in December, the average asking price of a home fell by 1.9% to £355,177. Tim Bannister predicts this year that the average new selling asking prices will be 1% lower nationally by the end of 2024, as competition increases among sellers to find a buyer.
