Don’t miss the upcoming Trevithick Day!

- Wed 26 Apr 2023

On Saturday 29th April, Trevithick Day will be celebrated in Camborne. The streets of the town will be closed and passing traffic will be replaced with steam engines, stalls, choirs, and bands to pay tribute to Richard Trevithick.

Richard Trevithick invented machines that transformed the future of mass transportation and Britain’s place in the forefront of the industrial revolution. He also helped transform Cornwall’s fortunes as an important cog in the globe’s mining industry. As Trevithick was born and lived on the edge of Camborne and Redruth in the heart of the county’s mining industry lands, it’s fitting that Camborne as a town pays tribute to the famous inventor.

Nick Jewell, Camborne Branch Manager commented “Trevithick Day is a date in the calendar that many locals to Camborne look forward to. The town is bustling with local bands and choirs, street entertainers, local business stalls as well as museums and exhibitions putting on events and talks throughout the day. We are delighted to be getting involved with the celebrations and have our own stall offering fun property related games for the whole family to get involved in. Make sure you come along and enjoy the chance to win fantastic prizes from Merlin Cinemas and St. Michaels in Falmouth all in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance – we look forward to seeing you there!”
