Exeter's Great West Run took place on Sunday 13th October with 3 of our staff completing the exciting yet challenging 13.1 mile route through the heart of Exeter. Over 1900 runners plus thousands of supporters and volunteers attended the event making it a huge success despite the damp conditions.
Robin Burne our Budleigh Salterton Branch Manager ran with ‘Team FORCE’ who raised £20,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity. Kirsty Pearce our St Thomas Negotiator ran for Macmillan Cancer Support who says her goal was to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the Charity. Damian Kennedy our Exeter Negotiator ran with Bradleys Sponsor group the Tri-hards, a fitness and well-being Exmouth based group who also took part in the Bradleys 10k earlier in October, their times ranged from an outstanding 90 minutes to just under 3 hours.
Robin commented “The atmosphere was amazing which helped with the very damp and hilly course around Exeter. After many years, I finally broke the 1hr 40min barrier achieving a personal best of 1:39:26 and coming in at 259th place!”
