Freya Drew from Bradleys Taunton office recently supported Dan James from Mind in Somerset in walking 2 of his 55 laps of Somerset County Cricket Ground (the equivalent of 20 miles) on Mental Health Awareness Day.
Dan came up with the challenge and then sought support from businesses across Somerset, including Somerset County Cricket Club themselves, with some of the cricketers helping support Dan. The concept of walking round and round in circles can often relate to how people feel when they are struggling and with Dan being joined on each lap of his walk, it promotes the power of talking to others.
Dan commented “I’m delighted with the incredible support I received on the challenge, including that of Bradleys Taunton office. We all know people or have ourselves suffered from mental health problems and so this related to many people. Talking is vital and to share your thoughts, concerns or anxieties with someone, whether you know them or not can really help.”
Freya added “It was great to support Dan in his challenge, I’m delighted we could play a small part in helping Mind Somerset, a charity which is close to us here in the Taunton branch, we will be looking to build on this by working with them further in the future.”
Mind has been created to offer support and help to anyone struggling with mental illness. Their core purpose is to help improve the quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness. They offer a 24/7 helpline, plus many activities to those suffering and have offices in Taunton, Yeovil, Minehead, Bridgwater and Shepton Mallet although offer services across the county.
