How far does the average home mover move in the South West?

Following research by removals comparison website, Reallymoving, who monitored 170,000 home moves across the UK the average distance between house moves has been revealed.

Whilst the shortage distance between moves takes place in the North East and North West, which is a median distance of just 8 miles with 40% moving within 5 miles of their existing home. The longest distance is reported to be in the South West, with the median being 15 miles.

Various factors will determine the average distance including house price affordability, job opportunities, family proximity and more recently the ability to work from home all can affect the reasons why some movers will travel will seek homes further afield.

The South West does however have over half (54%) of movers finding their next home within a 20 mile radius, 10% between 21 an 50 miles, 9% between 501 and 100 miles then 27% over 100 miles.
