Mark Hind, a member of Bradleys IT team, successfully completed the "Dip a Day in October" challenge, raising awareness and funds for Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) in their mission to end sewage pollution. SAS is a charity focused on protecting oceans and waterways, advocating for cleaner seas, and preserving our natural environment for future generations.
This cause held personal significance for Mark. After a cancer diagnosis, he discovered solace in the sea; the cold water provided an unexpected escape, helping him cope with his challenges. Whether it was the jolt of the cold or the mental clarity it offered, those ocean dips became a critical part of his healing journey.
Through the "Dip a Day" challenge, Mark not only raised awareness but also exceeded his original fundraising goal of £150, ultimately collecting over £250 for SAS’s vital work. Even when severe weather forced him to miss three days, he stayed committed by taking cold showers to make up for the missed dips.
Inspired by this success, Mark is now tackling a new challenge in November: a 10K swim to support Cancer Research. He hopes his efforts continue to raise both awareness and support for these crucial causes.
Thank you to everyone who supported Mark’s journey, your contributions have made a real difference toward cleaner oceans.
