A memorial bench has been unveiled by the Royal British Legion in Plympton following one its members raising money for over 12 months to remove 3 feet from his dreadlocks.
Committee member, Dave Ayres, had the dreadlocks removed last year, which alongside charity fundraising, raffles and sponsorship manged to fund enough money for the bench, which sits at the top of the Ridgeway, adjoining the roundabout on the corner adjacent to Bradleys Estate Agents Plympton office.
Branch Manager, Sharon Pollard commented “We are delighted to see this lovely bench positioned so that people can observe the bench and remember what so many sacrificed all those years ago. It is a pleasure to have it located next to our place of work and will not forget the effort that Dave and fellow committee members went to in order to raise the money to make this happen.”
