This Saturday, our Marketing Coordinator, Mia Veacock, will be taking on the Royal Free Charity Abseil, descending the 70-foot Pears Building next to the Royal Free Hospital in London. This thrilling event aims to raise funds for the Royal Free Charity, supporting over 17,000 NHS staff and more than two million patients annually.
Adding a deeply personal touch, Mia's father, Lieutenant Colonel Gary Veacock RM, and fellow Royal Marines will be assisting in delivering the event. Their involvement is a heartfelt thank-you to the Royal Free Hospital, where Gary's wife, Mia’s mum, received life-saving treatment for a neuroendocrine tumour. Gary expressed his gratitude, stating:
“We are your Royal Marines – the nation’s Royal Marines – and it’s a privilege to deliver this event with the Royal Free Charity in gratitude for the exceptional care given to our families.”
The abseil takes place on Friday 9 May and Saturday 10 May 2025, offering participants the chance to brave new heights under the expert guidance of elite Royal Marines officers. Funds raised will support vital services, including patient support hubs, complementary therapies, and volunteer programs across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
