Record Buyer Activity Over the Festive Period

- Wed 07 Jan 2026

Reviewing the two-week period from 24 December to 6 January, enquiries reached a new high, surpassing levels seen in 2024/25 across all key areas. This suggests a promising start to 2026.

Bradleys Estate Agents compared website visitors and enquiries with the same period last year, alongside the number of applicants registered across their offices and viewing requests. All areas recorded an increase. Applicant interest and registrations — representing people actively seeking a new property — saw the largest rise, increasing by 65% year on year.

Sales Director at Bradleys, Darren Ellis, commented:

We feel very positive about the start of 2026 following Bradleys’ Big Property Launch, which showcased hundreds of properties across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. These homes were either new to the market or had revised pricing to attract new enquiries, and the response was extremely encouraging. We deliberately target this time of year, when people are making plans for the year ahead, so our sellers can benefit from motivated buyers actively seeking a new home.

Darren continued:
Following the recent interest rate drop by the Bank of England, which has given buyers additional confidence, the South West property market is well positioned for a busy year ahead. If you are planning a move — whether selling, buying or letting — we would be delighted to hear from you and help with your moving plans.
