This September, the seaside town of Budleigh Salterton will once again host one of the South West’s most celebrated cultural events: the Budleigh Literary Festival. From Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 September 2025, the town on East Devon’s beautiful Jurassic Coast will welcome a remarkable line-up of authors, poets, and speakers for five inspiring days of talks, workshops, and lively discussion.

The festival was founded in 2008 by the late Susan Ward, whose vision was to bring world-class writers to this picturesque coastal community. Since then, it has flourished into a landmark of Devon’s cultural calendar, consistently attracting leading voices across fiction, poetry, history, science, food writing, travel, and current affairs - all while retaining its warm, intimate atmosphere.
