Shhh… is this Devon’s best kept secret?

- Tue 16 May 2023

The village of Shaldon has been named among the top UK staycation hotspots. The table, judged by travel experts at the Daily Telegraph, includes popular towns like Cartmel, Cumbria and Saltaire, West Yorkshire. However, this year, Shaldon in Devon has found its way into the top 10.

The judges praised the small village for it’s “elegant Georgian homes” and “neatly kept bowling green” and called it “one of Devon’s best-kept secrets”. But despite all it’s charm, the area is mysteriously bypassed by the tourist trail, making it a great option for those who want to avoid the crowds.

Julie Carden, Bradleys Shaldon branch Manager commented “I may be bias, but I do agree with Shaldon being one of Devon’s best kept secrets. As a local myself, I love everything about the village! Activities near to Shaldon include mini golf course, a Go Ape and the ever popular Paignton Zoo plus much more, especially if you are into water sports. Sun-seekers can relax on the red-sand beaches on the banks of the River Teign Estuary, one of which is only accessible via an original smugglers’ tunnel. There are also long walking trails and hiking routes available, especially to work up an appetite for some of the delicious food on offer.”

Julie continued “The homes on offer in Shaldon are highly-sought after and hold impressive value due to the breath-taking views and the fantastic community spirit the village holds. If you are thinking of making the move to Shaldon, please do register your details with us by clicking here.
