New Year’s Eve is all about celebration, sparkle, and savouring the last moments of the year. While champagne and cocktails are classic, a well-crafted mocktail can be just as festive and refreshing. Whether you’re the designated driver, skipping alcohol, or just craving something lighter, this sparkling mocktail is your perfect partner to toast the New Year.
Ingredients
• 3/4 cup sparkling water (chilled)
• 1/4 cup 100% pomegranate juice (or cranberry juice for a milder taste)
• 1 tsp fresh lime juice
• 1 tsp honey or agave syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
• Pomegranate seeds or cranberries for garnish
• Fresh mint leaves for garnish
• Ice cubes
Optional: Add a splash of orange juice for a hint of citrus sweetness.
Instructions
1. Prepare your glass: Fill a champagne flute or a tall glass with ice cubes for a cool presentation.
2. Mix the base: In a small pitcher, combine the pomegranate juice, lime juice, and honey/agave syrup. Stir until the sweetener dissolves completely.
3. Add the sparkle: Slowly pour in the chilled sparkling water. Pour gently to maintain the fizz.
4. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle a few pomegranate seeds or cranberries on top and add a sprig of mint. Optional: a thin lime wheel on the rim adds elegance.
5. Toast: Raise your glass and enjoy a refreshing, bubbly toast without the alcohol!
Extra Tips
• Chill all ingredients in advance to keep the drink crisp and refreshing.
• For a layered look, pour sparkling water slowly over a spoon to float it on top of the juice.
• Try adding a few frozen berries instead of ice cubes - they keep the drink cold without watering it down.
This New Year’s Eve mocktail is simple, elegant, and perfectly suited for both kids and adults. It’s a drink that lets everyone join the countdown to midnight with sparkle in hand!
