St Ives proving more popular than ever

- Mon 25 Jan 2021

Last week we reported on the G7 summit meeting being held in Carbis Bay, this week we report that St Ives is one of the most sought after locations for home hunters to search for, highlighting just how popular West Cornwall, in fact Cornwall generally has become particularly following the pandemic.

Findings by a property search company, Garrington, analysed over 1400 towns and cities across England and Wales and then ranked them to create a league table, which placed St Ives in seventh place. The league table was based upon a number of factors but to qualify must be able to receive superfast broadband, in fact 95% of the properties in the locations must be able to receive superfast broadband, then each location was ranked upon the following criteria to form the results:

  • Natural beauty: Each location was scored for its proximity to open water, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Architectural beauty: Marks were awarded for the number of listed and period homes, as well as modern ultra-energy-efficient homes
  • Quality of life: Each area was ranked for its air quality, crime figures and how many farm shops there are within a three-mile radius

With Cornwall being put in the spotlight already in 2021, its popularity for home hunters is highly likely to continue, as is much of the region with the increased demand for more space, whether green or coastal, detached homes, space to work at home and people generally getting a work/life balance.
