On Sunday 26th of June, Claire Watts, Negotiator from our Hayle branch will be taking part in a world record breaking attempt synchronised swim as part of the Penzance Arts festival in aid of recent events in Ukraine.
Synchronised swimming is all about unity, therefore ‘Swim for Ukraine’ is taking place in order to unite 248 in the Jubilee Pool in Penzance from 5:45pm on Sunday to raise funds for Ukraine, as well as breaking a world record. Artist Anthony Garratt is the producer behind the swim and aims to get half of the participants wearing a yellow swimming cap and the other half wearing a blue swimming cap to create a huge Ukrainian flag in the pool as well as a 2 minute performance.
Claire Watts commented “Living by the sea, I love swimming and paddle boarding. I have recently joined a local sea swimming group and I’m getting my practice in for the weekend (I was in the sea last night until 10pm)! I wanted to combine my hobbies to raise money for a worthy charity and this event seemed ideal. Not only will it be so much fun, but hopefully we will break the World Record too!”
If you can’t go along to support the swimmers on the day, make sure you click here to support them by donating as much or as little as possible to their Go Fund me page.
