When she’s not keeping the numbers in perfect order as our Accounts Manager, Rachel Hiland can often be found rehearsing lines and learning songs. This October, she’ll be stepping out of the office and onto the stage in Calendar Girls the Musical at Sidmouth Manor Pavilion.
Performed by the Woodhouse Theatre Company from 21st–25th October, the production tells the uplifting true story of a group of Yorkshire women whose lives are turned upside down when one of them loses her husband to cancer. To raise money for their local hospital, they decide to create a fundraising calendar. But instead of the usual countryside scenes, they come up with a far more daring idea - posing nude, with only jam jars, cakes, and knitting needles to preserve their modesty. What begins as a small act of defiance becomes a national phenomenon, proving that friendship, laughter, and a little courage can spark extraordinary change.
The show features a cast of talented local performers whose real-life friendships bring genuine warmth and chemistry to the stage - adding even more heart to this uplifting story.
Rachel takes on the role of Ruth - a character full of humour, heartfelt moments, and a spark of mischief. We already know Rachel can balance a budget, but can she hit the high notes too? This performance promises to reveal a whole new side of our multi-talented Accounts Manager.
Don’t miss the chance to see her in action - it’s set to be an evening of humour, warmth, and music that will stay with you long after the curtain falls.
