The annual Bradleys Vinter Cup returns and things have begun to heat up with four of the top Premier Teams in the upcoming semi-finals, Hayle, Penzance, Camborne and Truro.
The competition has reached its 82nd tournament this year and it’s still as popular as ever! It began in 1934 when the Headmaster of Truro School, Mr HW Vinter donated a ‘splendid’ silver trophy. The first final comprised of 30 overs and after being reduced to 26 overs in the second year and to 25 overs in 1936 it became a 20 over competition in 1949, in which it’s still how it is played today.
Nick Jewell, Manager of our Camborne branch commented “We are delighted to sponsor this tournament brining tradition and healthy competition to the Cornish region. It’s great to see the competition carry on throughout so many years. The semi-finals are going to be gruelling games but I look forward to seeing which two teams make it out on top and reach the final.”
