The South West takes the top spot once again!

Following Bradleys record sales month in July, It doesn’t come a surprise when data collated by Barclays Mortgages proved that the South West of England was the most desired area that people in the UK would like to relocate to. People living in Birmingham and London were the most likely to target a move with figures as high as 30% of people wanting to move to more rural, green areas away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.

Barclays behavioural scientist Dr Peter Brooks stated the research carried out suggests an aspiration for a complete lifestyle change with many home movers ruling out a short commute to the office as a necessity. This may be a result of so many people now working from home, there is less of a need to be in the office 5 days a week. Here at Bradleys, we have also found many people are taking the first steps towards their retirement now with plans to move to a quieter more rural area whilst continuing to work from their home whilst being located in a their favoured part of the West Country.

Over a quarter of those polled in Barclays survey stated a preference to be close to the seaside, and similar amounts wished to live in more rural areas, which are both elements that our Bradleys offices across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall offer. The findings of this research are very much reflected by the housing market across the South West at the moment with Bradleys achieving over 100 more sales in July 2020 than July 2019.
