Top city price hotspots in the West Country unveiled

The West Country favours some of the most desirable places to live in the UK, from Cornwall all the way to the stunning Jurassic Coast in Devon, not just because of its prestigious coastlines but also because of its accessible links to nearby cities and ample countryside space.

Not to our surprise, many places within the South West have landed themselves on the top 10 city price hotspots list. Rightmove has recently released data to show the increase in asking price growth in certain cities, with Truro in Cornwall being the second city hotspot having seen the asking prices increase by 14.6% from last year, now making the average asking price £323,209.

Demand for homes in the South West has soared since the pandemic due to the popularity of people moving out of the major cities and wanting to move to cities closer to the coast and countryside for more space, meaning that cities such as Plymouth have experienced a rise of 12.5% on asking prices compared to last year and now homes in Plymouth have an average asking price of £231,914.

“For example, according to Rightmove, Exeter has seen the biggest increase in competition with competition more than doubling over the last year at 110% and the average house price being £307,519.
