The festive season is often a whirlwind of shopping, cooking, and celebrations, leaving little time to add extra touches to your holiday gatherings. But sometimes, the simplest things can make the biggest impact. One of those delightful showstoppers is the Charcuter-Tree - an easy yet impressive way to bring a little holiday magic to your table. This edible Christmas tree is a fun twist on the traditional charcuterie board, combining delicious flavours with a festive presentation.
How to Make Your Own Charcuter-Tree:
Ingredients:
Cured Meats (such as salami, prosciutto, and ham)
Cheese (cheddar, brie, goat cheese, or any favourites)
Crackers and breadsticks (for creating the tree’s structure)
Fruits (grapes, figs, pomegranate seeds, etc. for decoration)
Nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme, to create a tree trunk look)
Olives (to add flair and colour)
Instructions:
Create the tree base: Start by forming a triangle shape on a large serving platter using crackers, breadsticks, or slices of bread. These will act as the foundational layers of your tree.
Layer your meats: Begin layering thin slices of cured meats such as salami and prosciutto around the tree base. You can arrange them in circular patterns or slightly overlapping to create a tree-like texture.
Add cheese: Place cheese around the meat. Cut cheese into wedges, cubes, or slices and position them around the tree. You can also add small round cheeses or even stack them to give the tree more dimension.
Add fruits: Add pops of color by placing fruits like grapes, figs, or pomegranate seeds between the cheese and meats. These add a sweet contrast to the savory flavors and enhance the tree’s festive look.
Decorate with nuts and herbs: Sprinkle nuts like almonds or walnuts around the tree for texture. Fresh rosemary or thyme can be added for an elegant look, with the herbs acting as the "tree trunk" at the bottom and a touch of greenery throughout.
To complete the look, top your Charcuter-Tree with a star-shaped cheese or use something festive like a small tomato or pepper as a tree topper. You can also add more decorative herbs, or tiny edible ornaments to enhance the festive atmosphere.
This fun and festive Charcuter-Tree makes for a striking and delicious centrepiece at any holiday gathering, perfect for grazing or simply adding a unique touch to your Christmas spread.
