The annual Bradleys Vinter Cup returns and things have begun to heat up with four of the top Premier Teams in the upcoming semi-finals, Penzance, Redruth, Camborne and St Just.
The competition has reached its 81st tournament this year and it’s still as popular as ever! It began in 1934 when the Headmaster of Truro School, Mr HW Vinter donated a ‘splendid’ silver trophy. The first final comprised of 30 overs and after being reduced to 26 overs in the second year and to 25 over in 1936 it became a 20 over competition in 1949, in which it’s still how it is played today.
Nick Jewell, Manager of our Camborne branch commented “We are delighted to sponsor this tournament brining tradition and healthy competition to the Cornish region. It’s great to see the competition carry on throughout so many years. The semi-finals are going to be gruelling games but I look forward to seeing which two teams make it out on top for the final at Camborne Cricket Club.”
You will be able to find Penzance Vs Redruth play on the evening of Tuesday 21st June and Camborne Vs St Just on the evening of Wednesday 22nd June with venues to be announced. Keep any eye out, you won’t want to miss it!
